Law Enforcement Information Technology Standards Council (LEITSC)

LEITSCLaw Enforcement Information Technology Standards Council (LEITSC)
The Law Enforcement Information Technology Standards Council (LEITSC) program fosters the growth and strategic planning and implementation of integrated justice systems.

New - The Law Enforcement Information Technology Standards Council Releases Standard Functional Specifications for Law Enforcement Records Management Systems, Version II
With support from the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), the Law Enforcement Information Technology Standards Council (LEITSC) is pleased to announce the publication of Standard Functional Specifications for Law Enforcement Records Management Systems, Version II. These standard functional specifications are intended t be used as a starting point to build, based on agency needs, a fully operative records management system that is based on open standards in order to efficiently interface and share information with other systems both internally and externally.

The Law Enforcement Information Technology Standards Council has Released 10 Information Exchange Package Documents for Computer Aided Dispatch and Records Management Systems using NIEM 2.0
LEITSC has released the publication of ten Information Exchange Package Documents (IEPDs) for Computer Aided Dispatch Systems and Records Management Systems using the National Information Exchange Model (NIEM) version 2.0.

An IEPD is a collection of artifacts that describe the structure and content of an information exchange. It describes that data involved in an exchange, but does not specify other interface layers (such as web services). IEPDs are typically created using the GJXDM and/or NIEM data models. All of the IEPDs are currently available for download on the LEITSC website and a Request for Technical Assistance Form is available if your department is interested in receiving technical assistance to implement any of these IEPDs.

Standard Functional Specifications for Law Enforcement Released
RMS Version II coverCAD coverLEITSC has completed validation of the standard functional requirements for computer aided dispatch (CAD) systems and records management systems (RMS). These specifications are designed to assist law enforcement agencies in the design and procurement of agency CAD and RMS. These tools provide significant guidance to agencies developing a RFP for purchasing or upgrading CAD systems or RMS. They are designed to inform law enforcement about the basic functional requirements that all CAD and RMS systems should have in order to achieve interoperability. Version I of the CAD and Version II of the RMS Standard Functional Specifications are available for download.

CAD and RMS Technical Assistance Available
LEITSC offers Technical Assistance to law enforcement agencies that are in the process of procuring or updating a Computer Aided Dispatch system or Records Management System. The technical assistance is driven by an agency’s use of the Standard Functional Specifications for Law Enforcement CAD and/or RMS. LEITSC is able to provide technical assistance and expertise that a law enforcement agency can use when developing a request for proposal (RFP) and can support delivery during an agency’s selection/procurement process of a CAD or RMS. In addition, technical assistance is offered to agencies that are interested in implementing the Information Exchange Package Documents (IEPDs) for CAD or RMS that LEITSC helped developed.
