Law Enforcement Information Management (LEIM) Section

The IACP Law Enforcement Information Management Section (LEIM) brings together law enforcement practitioners to improve and facilitate the exchange of information and system interoperability within and across jurisdictional boundaries. LEIM key stakeholders include police chiefs, law enforcement executives, and technologists.
LEIM Section Chair
Major Dean Hairston of the Danville (VA) Police Department is the current LEIM Section Chair. Major Hairston currently serves as the Operations Division Commander in Danville. Major Hairston has also served a member of the department SWAT team, and on a number of federal and state drug and organized crime task forces. He is a currently board member of the Virginia State Interoperability Advisory Committee. Major Hairston also serves as a consultant for the National Institute of Justice as a member of the Communications Technology and Information-Led Policing technical work group. Major Hairston holds a Master of Science degree from Longwood University in Sociology / Criminology. He is an adjunct professor for Bluefield College and a certified general instructor for the state of Virginia.

The IACP's Law Enforcement Information Management (LEIM) Section, held its 32nd Annual Conference at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville, TN, May 6-10, 2008. Topics discussed included: System Integration, Strategic Planning, Mobile Computing, Terrorism and Technology, and IT Standards.
